DAYS OF BELGRADE From 16th to 19th of April 2010

Days of Belgrade is the city`s biggest festivity. The festivity relate to two significant dates in history of Belgrade: 16th of April 878., first mention of the Slav name Belgrade in a written document and symbolic handing of the keys of the city to Serbian Prince Mihajlo Obrenović, on 19th of april 1867.  

Within Days of Belgrade this year, same as previous seven, numerous cultural, educational and protocol events and programs will be held. 
Also, annual Award of the city of Belgrade, will be handed to individuals and groups whom have, with their creativity and success proved worthy of this highest and most prestige recognition awarded by City of Belgrade.
In particular attention is paid to the organization and support programs in the so-called “suburban” Municipalities: Lazarevac, Mladenovac, Obrenovac, Grocka, Sopot, Surčin. Municipalities Čukarica and Rakovica also have their special programs.

The central event will certainly be a grand opening of restored Avala tower, on Monday, 19th of April 2010. We point out also: Premier of the cult musical “Na slovo na slovo” in Terazije Theatre, special programs of the city cultural institution, evenings dedicated to the work of recently deceased Momo Kapor, introduction of the new Zepter Museum in Knez Mihailova street, the promotion of monographs published by the Belgrade City Library and the Museum of the City of Belgrade.

On 18th of April Belgrade marathon will be held as a sport event of the festivities , and Belgrade tourist organization prepared special tourist programs for visiting numerous cultural and historical monuments, with special emphasis on the tour of Skadarlija street. In the spirit of the Days of Belgrade at the Sava Center on 20th of April. the premiere of Đorđe Balašević ‘s film “ Rani mraz” will be held . This year, as well as before, executive production was entrusted to Belef center.
